BIO
My Biography
Solange Tuyishime is from Fredericton New Brunswick. She was born and raised in East Africa and at the age of 13 she escaped from the war and moved to Canada.
She continued her education at École Sainte-Anne (A well recognized French school in Fredericton, New Brunswick). In school she was a very active person. She played Basketball for two years, volleyball for three years and soccer all through high school and was captain of the girls soccer team during her last year. She was also part of the student union, the year book committee, theatre committee, and a cheerleader. She graduated from École Sainte-Anne in 2001 with a scholarship from the Knights of Columbus. Through those years, She received numerous awards such as: most improved player 18 & Under girls AAA, Sportsmanship award and most valuable cheerleader, 1st place- Provincial Champions, N.B.I.A.A. Sr. Soccer Girls (four years in a row).
After graduating from École Sainte-Anne with a high school diplomat, she decided to continue her education at St-Thomas University. She was accepted in the journalism program, where she received a $6000 ATV Media Scholarship that is awarded to a third year student in Bachelor of Applied Arts in journalism program, who demonstrates an interest in television journalism. On May 9th of 2005, she graduated from St-Thomas University with honours in French and a major in Journalism.
Whenever she gets the opportunity to make a difference in someones life, she does it without hesitation. Solange donates clothes and shoes to community living. For the past few years she has been participating in the Run for the cure, raising money for breast cancer, and has written articles encouraging more people to participate. Since she loves working with children, she has coached soccer to grade 5 and 6 children. Remembering her roots and taking a role in the community, Solange was a member of the African Student Union for numerous years, in which she was vice president for two consecutive years. During the year they organized activities for the African community in Fredericton. For many years she helped this association voluntarily in many activities like the African Night, held every year at the University of New Brunswick.
In 2004 she was crowned Miss New Brunswick International 2004. This was an opportunity of a lifetime that gave her the chance to participate at the Miss Canada International pageant where she finished a runner up. Because of her remarkable performance and dedication towards the title of Miss Canada International, in spring 2005, Solange was once again strongly encouraged to participate at this national pageant. It was on August 27th 2005, when Solange Tuyishime was crowned as Miss Canada International 2006 and held the title for 2007 as well, crowning her successor in August of 2007.
Making history, Solange not only became the first title holder from New Brunswick to win a national title, she was also the first Black woman to hold such a title amongst all others pageants in Canada. Through hard work, dedication and support from her family, friends and sponsors, Solange was able to complete her reigning year successfully.
With some of the scholarship from the Miss Canada International Organization, and her life changing experience as Miss Canada International 2006/2007, Solange decided to further her education, and graduated with a Masters in Public Administrations from the University of Moncton in May 2008. Solange proudly continued to play soccer with *les Aigles Blues* at the University of Moncton, where she also hosted many events such as the International Night and many more (Both in French and in English).
Following her graduation Solange obtained employment within the Federal Government of Canada in Strategic Human Resources. She continues to fighting for children who are less fortunate by raising awareness, volunteering and being part of the Save the Children Canadas Ottawa Branch.
Solange continuously gets involved in fashion and modeling, and keeps on her passion for writing about her life experiences and interests.
On October 10, 2009 Solange obtained to title of Miss Canada International 2010. She plans to make a memorable year where she achieves many of her goals. Solange will represent Canada at the Miss International pageant.
"My life time experiences have made me the strong person that I am today. I am proud to be a Canadian, with being a survivor from the war; Ive learned to be appreciative, to never take anything for granted, to help those who are less fortunate, to work hard in life and to never give up on my dreams."
HOME
Welcome
Welcome to my website!
Welcome! And thank you for visiting my website.
I am a host, motivational speaker, model; I also have the privilege of being Miss Canada International.
I am passionate about writing on various subjects regarding life and current activities/appearances, so I invite you to read my diary and accompany me on this journey.
My charity platform concentrates on the well being of children around the world who are less fortunate. I believe that there are way too many children around the world who are suffering from undesired poverty, conflicts, and diseases which are affecting their future opportunities. These children are the future leaders of their respective regions and possibly of our world. If we do not help them by offering them health and education, then we are not only helping them personally but we are also not creating a better future for this world.
No one chooses where they are born biologically and geographically; no one chooses the color of their skin, ethnicity, or their parents social and financial situation. I believe that if we were lucky enough to arrive in this world and find ourselves in a safe and opportune place, then we can at least be grateful by helping those who were not as fortunate.
There are more than 75 million children in this world growing up without an education, and that is simply not right! Every child deserves a right to health, education and safety. Remember, "It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men." Frederick Douglass
